I Coldplay sono un gruppo musicale britannico formatosi a Londra nel 1997. Sono di genere rock alternativo-pop rock. I componenti sono: Chris Martin, Johnny Buckland, Guy Berryman e Will Champion. I quattro musicisti si conobbero alla University College di Londra e negli anni 90 formarono il gruppo che cambiò diversi nomi come i Pectoralz, poi Starfish e come gruppo attuale i Coldplay. Phil Harvey il direttore creativo è conosciuto per essere il quinto membro della formazione.
Nel 2000 pubblicarono “Parachutes” con le canzoni “Don’t Panic”, “Shiver”, “Yellow e “Trouble”. Nel 2002 pubblicarono “A rush of blood to the head” con le canzoni famose “In my place” con la celebre frase “In my place in my place where lines that I couldn’t change I was lost oh yeah” e come ritornello fa “Yeah How long must you wait for it Yeah How long must you pay for it Yeah How long must you wait for it Oh for it”, “The scientist” che significa “Lo scienziato” e “Clocks“. La frase principale del brano è “You are” che significa “Tu sei”. Le altre frasi principali di questo brano sono: “And nothing else compares Oh no, nothing else compares, and nothing else compares” e “Home, home, where I wanted to go” detta quattro volte.
Nel 2005 pubblicarono “X&Y”. Le canzoni principali di questo brano sono: “Fix you” col ritornello “Tears stream down your face When you lose something you cannot replace Tears stream down your face, And I Tears stream down your face I promise you I will learn from my mistakes Tears stream down your face And I”, “Talk” con la frase finale “Nothing’s really making any sense at all Let’s talk Let’s talk Let’s talk Let’s talk”, “Speed of sound” col ritornello “All that noise and all that sound All those places I got found And birds go flying at the speed of sound To show you how it all began Birds came flying from the underground if you could see it then you’d understand” e “The hardest part”.
Nel 2008 pubblicarono “Viva la vida or Death and all his friends” col la canzone famosa “Viva la vida” col ritornello “I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing Roman Calvary choirs are singing Be my mirror, my sword and shield, My missionaries in a foreign field For some reason I can’t explain Once you go there was never, never an honest word And that was when I ruled the world”.
La canzone più famosa del 2011 è “Paradise” tratta dall’album “Milo Xyloto” e la canzone più famosa del 2014 è “A sky full of stars” tratta dall’album “Ghost stories”. L’ultimo brano dei Coldplay “Music of the spheres“.
