Elton John è nato a Londra il 25 marzo 1947. Il suo vero nome è Reginald Kenneth Dwight ed è un cantautore e musicista britannico. È uno dei maggiori artisti del rock contemporaneo ed è anche un eccellente pianista. Ha venduto ufficialmente oltre 400 milioni di dischi nel corso della sua lunga carriera. Il suo genere è il pop. Il suo primo album “Empty sky”, uscì nel 1969 con la canzone omonima. Il successo arriva l’anno successivo con l’album omonimo “Elton John”, che contiene una delle sue più celebri canzoni . La canzone più famosa dell’album del 1970 è “Your song“. La famosa celebre frase è “It’s a little bit funny this feeling inside”. Negli anni 70 pubblicò ancora altri album molto famosi come “Tumbleweed connection”, con le popolari canzoni “Country comfort” e “Burn down the mission”.
Seguì “Madman across the water” con altre bellissime canzoni come “Tiny dancer”. La canzone più bella dell’album “Honky Chateau” è “Rocket man“. Il ritornello di questa canzone è “And I think it’s gonna be a long long time Till touchdown brings me round again to find, I’m not the man they think I am at home Oh no no no, I’m a Rocket man. Rocket man burning up his fuse up here alone”. Accompagna anche molte pubblicità come quella delle fette biscottate.
Il famoso album del 1973 è “Goodbye yellow brick road” con la celebre canzone omonima. Il ritornello è: “So goodbye yellow brick road and the dogs of society howl. You can’t plant me in your penthouse, I’m going back to my plough. Back to the howling old owl in the woods and the horny back toad. Oh I’ve finally decided my future lies beyond the yellow brick road”. In questo disco c’è anche la famosissima “Candle in the wind” che parla della famosa attrice Marilyn Monroe morta molto giovane. Nel 1997 questa canzone fu eseguita al funerale di Lady Diana. Negli anni 80 ha pubblicato ancora altri album tra i quali ricordiamo in particolare “Too low for zero” con la celebre “I’m still standing”. Nel 2001 pubblicò “Songs from West the Coast” con la canzone più famosa che s’intitola “I want love”. Ha inciso la colonna sonora del “Re leone” che si intitola “Can you feel the love tonight”. Nel 2019 ha fatto un film che s’intitola “Rocketman“. è apparso nel film “Spice world” ed è apparso pure nelle serie “La tata”, “Will & Grace” e “Nashville”.
